45CS Monday Meeting - September 26, 2022

The "Hawks" had "watt" was an "electrifying" evening!  Group 3 Commander Maj. Benner came out and gave a "shocking" lesson on everything about electricity.  Cadet and Senior "Hawks" learned about Lenz's law.  If you are curious to know what Lenz's law is, it states that the direction of the electric current induced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field is such that the magnetic field created by the induced current opposes changes in the initial magnetic field. It was named after physicist Emil Lenz, who formulated it in 1834.  "Hawks" learned about Jacob's ladder, which is a high travelling arc and a Van de Graaff generator, which is an electrostatic generator which uses a moving belt to accumulate electric charge on a hollow metal globe on the top of an insulated column, creating very high electric potentials.  The "Hawks" would like to thank Maj. Benner for coming out and speaking.
